North Drinkware started as a lot of companies do – with an idea from a team of friends. But these three friends together have over 30 years of experience in product design, engineering and marketing. And what started as a ‘side hustle’ is slowly growing into a family business.
Launched with a Kickstarter campaign in 2015, North Drinkware had an original goal to raise USD 15,000. By the end of the donation period though, it received more than USD 500,000 for the business.
The Oregon Pint surpassed USD 15,000 in 5 hours and 15 minutes, 200% funded in 28 hours, 2000% funded in five days, 5000 backers at 24 days and the campaign closed at 3,543% funded by 5,620 backers totaling USD 531,581. North Drinkware was selected as a Kickstarter staff pick, and was featured in dozens of local, national and international press including The New York Times, Outside Magazine, Cool Hunting, Uncrate, Slate, Transworld Business, OregonLive/The Oregonian, Portland Business Journal, Portland Tribune, Willamette Weekly, among others.
Making hand blown glass takes years of experience and a totally custom process. It takes more than 15 steps over the course of two days to make just one of North Drinkware glasses. This process is repeated hundreds of times a day by the company’s team of artisans in Portland, Oregon for its patented designs.
North Drinkware works with 100% local partners to produce every piece of its products – from the paper wrap to custom tubes.
Now, the company is working to meet demand from a huge customer base for its glasses.
